It covers some 7,144 km2 and has a resident population of some 379 thousand which in summer reaches peaks estimated in excess of 600 thousand. The Area covers the whole province of Grosseto and almost the whole province of Siena for a total of 56 municipalities. The main municipalities are the provincial capitals, Grosseto and Siena. The Area Plan provides for an investment programme worth some 470 million Euros in 25 years and an average first-year weighted tariff of 0.99 Euro. This will be increased (decided by Ato act N° 6) by 0.03 Euro retroactive to January 1 2002. The planned yearly water supply of Ato 6 is 60 million cubic metres to some 200 thousand consumers. The sole franchisee of Ato 6 since January 1 2002 is Acquedotto del Fiora, a joint stock company owned 60% by a public partner (all the municipalities of the Area) and 40% by a private partner. Since the ’50s, Acquedotto del Fiora has been the provider of water captation, adduction and distribution mostly to the province of Grosseto and northern Lazio. Now entrusted with the gestione del Sii – as provided for in the so-called Galli law, the previous itemized expenditure regimes have been topped as have those of the previous licensees: Intesa spa (Siena), Cigaf spa (Sinalunga) and Gea spa (Grosseto). Acquedotto del Fiora Spa is the owner and manager of the desalination plant of Isola del Giglio (Grosseto)and other purification plants with a production of water for drinking purposes of 13,5 million litres/day,which will soon enable the island to be completely self-supporting in terms of fresh water. In 2002, the franchisee had a turnover in excess of 30 million Euros. At october 2003, it employed a staff of 285. Acquedotto del Fiora spa as obtaining the UNI EN ISO 9001 (Company Quality) Certification. Filtering Units Acquedotto del Fiora S.p.A. carries out the design, engineering, manufacturing, installation, operation and maintenance of: - Media and multi-media filtration units for wells and surface water - Activated carbon filtering units - Iron and Manganese removal units - Sulphide removal units - Solvents, pesticides and micro-pollutants removal plants - Sewage water reclamation filtering units Sea water desalination Acquedotto del Fiora S.p.A has an internal division dedicated exclusively for the sea-water desalination with the reverse osmosis technology. Reverse osmosis unit for drinking water has energy recovery system. The desalinated water is mainly utilized for potable purpose, but, at times, also for industrial use. The increasing necessity of water, especially in tourist areas, has given this product a large development. Waste Water Stations Acquedotto del Fiora S.p.A. carries out the design, engineering, manufacturing, installation, operation and maintenance of: - Physical-chemical and biological stations for waste water treatment industries. - Biogas units. - Used water recovering and reusing systems. - Biological plants for waste water coming from towns, communities, tourist villages and hotels.Pumping Stations Acquedotto del Fiora S.p.A. carries out the design, engineering, manufacturing, installation, operation and maintenance of raising station for: - Municipal water system supply - Municipal and industrial waste water - Sewages - Large draining systems  italiano |
